Further to obtaining a Masters degree in Public Ethics from the University of Ottawa, I felt confident and I thought that finding work was going to be easy for me. However, it was not as easy as I first imagined. I posted my profile on several placement agencies websites and I communicated with different employment consultants but with no success. After several failures, I panicked.

La Bonne affaire (LBA) played a fundamental and crucial role in attainting my goal. The agents at La Bonne affaire not only accompanied me professionally but they also helped me from a moral perspective.

« At my previous workplace, I felt ill before starting my shift. One year later, I decided to look for another job in Sudbury. The search itself took me 3 months and finally, with the efficient support of La Bonne affaire, I found a job in one of the city’s Senior Residences. I presently work at le Manoir des Pionniers of Grand Sudbury and I love it.

The time I spent with the agent at La Bonne affaire was very useful and practical. We met three days in a row, a few hours each time to review the details of my resume and adapt it to highlight my knowledge to the desired positions. I learned that small details such as where and how I position my professional objective on the resume have an immense impact to make my application stands out. I also learned the importance of a good cover letter and that the cover letter was an essential element to be selected for an interview.

When we are looking for employment, there is a moment when we want to quit altogether because it takes time to find work. Here we go, I am finally working!!!

I signed a one-year contract with Drake International to work for TD Bank as Technical Support.

I am really very happy. I am finally working for a company that is 100% Canadian.

It is a very interesting bilingual position.

I have learn a lot but I was am already familiar with some of the softwares there as they were he same I used at a different IT jobs in France.

The TD team has been friendly and welcoming.

There are good chances that I will be hired permently by the TD Bank at the end of the contract and that I will move on to different services, for example in pure IT … or mainframe or micro…

My schedule varies because it is a service that is available 24 hours and I work evenings, nights and/or weekends.

My children are now older and I will not pass on this opportunity to get involved in a new job.

I want to thank the agent at La Bonne affaire for her help. So here it is, back to school for my kids and back to work for me.

When I arrived in Canada two years ago, I felt that I faced a challenge that I had not imagined the size: economic integration. To get out of it, I had to find the proper tools. I got acquainted with La Bonne Affaire (LBA) program through la Cité collégiale and one of the agents of the program helped me in the process of starting my own hair salon. I am now almost done with the completion of my business plan before I go the meet with a banker.

I did not really feel able to start my own business in Canada because I did not have that in mind when I first came to Canada. I only wanted to find work in the field of interior design.
